Elbow +Wrist

ELBOW + WRIST

The forearm houses a majority of muscles that control the elbow, wrist and hand. Most originate just above the elbow and travel all the way down into the hand crossing the wrist. A group of muscles commonly called the WRIST FLEXORS begin above the inside of the elbow, continuing down the two forearm bones where it dives into the carpal tunnel at the wrist and spreads into the hand. As you can guess, this group of muscles flexes the wrist and fingers. Another big group of muscles, the WRIST EXTENSORS, begin just above the outside of the elbow following a similar path as the flexors just on the dorsal side of the wrist and hand creating wrist and finger extension.

Whether you’re a hair stylist, plumber, chiropractor, office administrator spending most of your day on a computer, video gamer or spend hours on your phone, we all demand A LOT out of these guys. Another important note, we do practically EVERYTHING with our hands! Although we might not require a lot of strength out of them, we do require a lot of endurance. When we overload these tissues and do not provide proper recovery methods, inflammation ensues decreasing functionality and pain develops. This can lead to conditions such as golfer’s elbow, tennis elbow, wrist pain, carpal tunnel syndrome and numbness/tingling into the wrist and hand.

So, when was the last time you gave a little love to this area?
